DAY 01 : JAYAPURA – WAMENA ARRIVAL (L,D)
Arrive at Sentani airport of Jayapura, meeting service and then take another flight to Wamena, arrive at Wamena airport short transfer to hotel. After take a rest, after lunch visit local market, Mummi in Aikima village late afternoon back to hotel.
DAY 02: WAMENA – KOSAREK – ULDAM (B,L,D)
Early breakfast, then transfer to Missionary airfield and fly by chartered plane to Kosarek -the home for Yali or Yalemo tribes. Upon arrival in Kosarek, we pick up some porters and then we start walk to Uldam village. Lunch will be provided by our cook. Afternoon explore the surrounding village Our trail is steep and slippery, but the scenery and the village is beautiful. Back to local house for dinner and overnight.
DAY 03: ULDAM – SERKASI (B,L,D)
Today, hike two hours to Serkasi village through steep sweet potato gardens and beautiful landscapes. Their traditional houses are built on the ridge of the mountain to easily recognize the arrival of the enemy during a raid. People in this village are willing to offer you any of their traditional tools or weapons to buy. The trail is still steep and passing through Yali gardens. We will arrive in Serkasi village by noon. Explore the surrounding village. Dinner and overnight.
DAY 04: SERKASI – HOMBUGA (B,L,D)
From Serkasi village we hike straight up a steep section of Kosarek Mountain. Once we arrive on the top we rest and enjoy the spectacular views of this highland mountain and the surrounding forest. The trail then heads down through a small forest (2 hours) to the village of Serkasi. We will make a stop at the river for lunch before we continue to Hombuga. We overnight at local house or church.
DAY 05: HOMBUGA PIG FEAST (B,L,D)
Today we will enjoy the Yali Pig feast Halfday and then trek back to Kosarek, Dinner and overnight at local accommodation.
DAY 06: HOMBUGA – KOSAREK (B,L,D)
After breakfast trek back to Kosarek, Lunch on the day, check in to local accommodation dinner and overnight.
DAY 07: KOSAREK – WAMENA (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we’ll make the short charter flight back to Wamena. Check in to the hotel, the rest of the day is free. dinner and overnight stay.
D08: WAMENA – JAYAPURA (B,L,D)
After breakfast drive to the airport for the flight to Jayapura, and then do sightseeing tour in Jayapura, check in the t hotel, Dinner and overnight in hotel.
D09: JAYAPURA – TIMIKA – EWER – AGATS (B,L,D)
After breakfast, we fly to Ewer via Timika, arrive in Ewer by boat to Agats in about 20 minutes, check in to hotel, afternoon explore the town, dinner and overnight.
D10: AGATS – MABUL (B,L,D)
Whole day on the boat heading to Mabul, lunch will have on the boat, arrive in Mabul check in to local accommodation, dinner and overnight.
D11: MABUL – NGGUARI TREE HOUSE (B,L,D)
After breakfast, pick up porters and then begin our 4 hours trek passing through the swamps, sometimes walk over the log or fallen tree and crossing the river with or without bridge. This is the tropical rain forest in the vast-green lowland of South Irian Jaya or Papua, there are many exotic things to be discovered and experienced but with great deal with mosquito, swamp, heat and high humidity (85 – 100%). Our trek in the forest will support by our local porters who carry our bags or gears and will love to help you to do some difficult section of the trip when you need. Korowai is a nomad people who always move from one place to another at least once every 3 years. They are not live in large group, that at every location of the tree house we only see 2-4 tree houses built side by side. The Korowai also a great hunter who hunted pigs, Cus-Cus, birds most of their time in life. After we met the Korowai and family on their tree house, we may interact with them help by our guide and experience their life. Overnight at our tent or at shelter we build near the tree house soon after we arrive. During the time with Korowai we can follow their daily activities: hunting, setting trap of wild pigs, gathering Sago flour, fishing in traditional way and also may have opportunity to see the tribe maintaining their own house about 25-30 above the ground.
D12: NGGUARI – HALIGANOP (BLD)
After breakfast walk in about 3 hours to see another village called Haliganop, arrive in Haliganop set the place for sleeping afternoon we will see the Korowai, searching for sago worm as their protein source.
D13: HALIGANOP (BLD)
Today the whole day mingle with the tribe and have chat with them. See the locals process Sago as their main food.
D14: HALIGANOP – MABUL – SUATOR (B,L,D)
After breakfast we walk back to Mabul, arrive in Mabul say goodbye to the team and then we continue by boat to Suator, Arrive in Suator check in to local accommodation for dinner and overnight.
D15: SUATOR – AGATS (B,L,D)
We start early morning by boat back to Agats, arrive in Agats in the afternoon, check in to hotel, dinner and overnight.
D16: AGATS – JAKARTA (B)
Transfer to Ewer airport on its time then flight to the next destination.
